Growing up, Nadia absolutely idolized Lady Aribeth de Tylmarande. Even in West Harbor, the bards told stories of her – an orphan and a half-elf who had overcome her own inner turmoil about the death of her family, broken out of a cycle of hatred and revenge, grown into a famous paladin, and become both the first woman and the first non-human to serve as a personal guard to Lord Nasher! Legend had it her life had even been saved by an avatar of the god Tyr himself! Of course Nadia looked up to her!

It wasn’t until after the war with Luskan had come and gone that the other stories reached West Harbor – the Lady Aribeth had fallen, in all senses of the word. She’d abandoned her god, become a blackguard, joined the enemy, and betrayed them all.

And, like her lover before her, she was executed for her crimes.

Nadia was devastated.

But after some time, a lot of thought, and a lot of talking with Brother Merring, she eventually came to see it as one more challenge to overcome. She’s always been fighting to prove herself as a paladin and a tiefling. Now she has the added goal of succeeding where her former hero failed.
